won't start

bought a montero sport 2000 drove it home,
sputtered a bit so changed fuel filter.just started
vehicle in driveway.not much change.was going to
take it to a friend who's a mechanic & have him
change fuel pump.but it wouldn't start. We had just
put new battery in.car would crank just wouldn't
start..trailered it to friends shop he changed
pump.we drove it for 3 days it was fine.then it went
back to cranking & not starting..had another friend
look at it he brought his com l uter testing stuff &
all his fancy gadgets,he says someone installed an
aftermarket security system.we just want to know
what the problem is for real & how to fix it.

Well I would suspect a fuel issue yet, probably need to check the fuel pressure. Could be a bad fuel regulator or some bad injectors.
