Wont crank

Asked by BodieGage Jan 22, 2018 at 08:13 PM about the 1998 Mitsubishi Montero Sport 4 Dr ES SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Dash lights /indicators come on
but when you turn the key to the
start position,  nothing happens
this is an intermittent issue. Could
it be anti-theft system which is
flashing and chirping ?

What I did was I bypassed the starter relay with two lines of aluminum speaker wires and put them into a push start button. It started after that. I did also take out the anti-theft system.
