99 spyder engine shake

Asked by Jake Jan 01, 2014 at 09:08 PM about the 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder 2 Dr GS Convertible

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Okay so I get up to speed just fine. Then about 5 miles down the highway doing 65 or
more, if I decelerate, and then accelerate, my engine starts shaking, and it can be quite
violent at time. Doesn't shake when I let off the gas, but then as soon as I hit it again,
shakes. I originally thought that this would be a throttle issue. Check engine light was on
with codes coming up as the TPS. So I changed all the plugs, wires, and put in a new
TPS. Still having the same problem. Please help me lol.

sounds like a motor mount to me as well,,, with it in park give it some good revs and see if you can get the engine to rock,, should not move much at all, if it does then you know you have a bad mount,, also can do a visual check on the mounts as well, but sometimes they will look good to the eye,, might wanna give both those tests a shot far as the code you still have take it back and have it rescanned, and see what it comes up with,, also did you have them clear the codes when you had it scanned the first time? if not it could just be stuck, so have it scanned and then cleared and see if it comes back,, and let us know what the code says this time
