are tune ups required on this v8 engine

You need to replace the spark plugs every 100,000 miles with double platinum and occasionally replace a bad coil.

Exactly, only thing is Ford recommends spark plug replacement at 90,000 miles and using iridium spark plugs. I have a 2008 Grand Marquis as my daily driver. Hope that helps! Jim

I was going from what my 2002 and 03 Fords were spec'd for but Iridiums are better than platinum.

I think 100k with platinum's is a little long. 90k is better.
