Do you happen to know if the car will shift into its last gear? At what RPM does the car hit at 55 mph? If it isn't going into the final gear, your transmission may either need an overhaul or a rebuild. If you know the car is going through all the gears it may be just a sensor not kicking back the correct info and triggering the trac cntrl to malfunction.

Could be a lot of things, Also may want to have the catalytic converter checked out, may be plugged. And need to determine if it is in the engine giving trouble. Turn the track system off if you don't need it. (driving in snow)
