Will the front seats of a 2004 grand marquis fit a 2001 grand marquis and if not why?

I own a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis and the seats need to be replaced. I
found a set of seats at the wrecking yard in a 2004 Grand Marquis but parts
interchange says they won't work, I was wondering what are the differences
and can they be easily altered to work?
