Do I need an OEM headlight assembly to get great light output on my 2001 grand marquis

I replaced the original oem headlight assembly with a cheap aftermarket headlight assembly
after targeting the assembly and installing xenon lamps the output does not light up the road
enough. the assembly I used is called angel eyes and look exactly like the originals

Thank you! I dont want to pay 100 for OEMs whats my next best choice costwise/performancewise? I just ordered two others for 48 which are touted as oem....
