Alternator Wiring Issue?

Asked by Nathaniel Jan 19, 2020 at 06:02 PM about the 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis 4 Dr LS Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The other day I had to replace the alternator in my car because it was causing my batter light to flash. I had the alternator tested at an AutoZone and the employee said the voltage regulator was bad. So I got a new alternator... Once I disconnected the plug from the old alternator, it basically fell apart. So I had to have the plug replaced too before installing a new alternator... Ever since then, the battery light on my dashboard no longer works. The mechanic replaced any blown fuses, but that didn't make a difference. Was the new plug wired incorrectly?
