have someone rev the engine and see if a healthy blast of exhaust comes out the tailpipe your catalytic may be clogged

Does the engine rev faster when you try to exceed 35? Or does it seem to stay the same. Have you tried the other gears? Beatupchevy has a good idea, catalytic, but you will get many good ideas....need more details for a more specific answer.

I had a few older cars that when you hit the gas nothing happens yet in neutral or park you can rev the engine , never figured them out , bad gas ? vacuum lines ? just don't know
