head gasket

Asked by bloodtodust Nov 11, 2010 at 09:35 PM about the 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis 4 Dr GS Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I changed the blown gaskets. It still leaked water into the oil. I took the heads off again, and had them resurfaced. I physicly checked the cylinders when i had the heads off. They all seemed fine with no cracks or scratches I put the heads back on with new gaskets. It still leaks watet into the oil. I have heard that the intake manifold may need to be resurfaced also.

Just an off the wall suggestion....you obviously have it fully torn down, so why not have the block magnafluxed to see if there are any hairline cracks? Good luck!

Water in the oil? Next to the oil pan there is the oil filter housing that also has a gasket for the antifreeze coolant lines into the block. Check if that gasket is bad it can / will leak antifreeze into the oil filter which in turns allows coolant into your engine oil.
