I have a 93 Mercury Grand Marquis. 140k miles. Why does my car smell from the heater after I get off cruise and accelerate? Also, my car jerks for a short while after starting and putting on the gas. It has trouble accelerating quickly, although this doesn't happen every time I start it up.

does it smell like fish? if so, sounds like your heater core is leaking. If it just has a nasty smell to it, change your cabin filter... also for the sputtering or trouble accelerating, check your intake air filter (different than cabin filter), if that is clogged, it could be suffocating your intake, also may not hurt to run some SeaFoam through your gas and oil - its like $8, could help quite a bit.

It isn't that simple. You seem to have 3 concerns: 1. Odor from the Air Conditioning, 2. Buck/Jerk on acceleration and 3. over heating. Is this correct?
