The blower motor resistor is normally located in the heatercase. it
provides resistor path to ground for each blower speed and max has
no resistor. The unit is protected by a thermal limiter. airflow over the
part is required to cool the resistors when they are in use. if airflow
was blocked, it could melt the resistor in use or break the thermal
limiter. The blower is accessed behind the glovebox, and the resistor
should be to the left of the blower.
If your vehicle has EATC, there is self test capability in it's control
unit. Some parts are different when you have ATC or EATC.
The correct diagnosis of these systems can require experienced
people to perform a few inspections of parts to see their present
condition, adjustment, or inspect for concerns relating to service
bulletins.
If your tech is not well versed and experienced with the system you
have ? Ask him/her to refer you to someone who is.....The time and
money you save will be your own.
