why is what it seems to be white smoke coming out my tailpipes

when I accelerate the white smoke is gone but when I was at mcdonalds drive through on the break it was some sort of what look like white smoke coming out my tail pipes when I put it in park right there and then in the drive through with my car still on it stopped smoking but when I put it in drive it started back up but when I accelerated it stopped then when I put oil in it it stopped all together but while it was smoking the car act like it wanted to give out with a sort of clicking niose though after I put a quart of oil it stopped acting up. what could be the problem

it was a water pump leak that was running down the front of the engine that caused the white smoke.

it was that's why the water was dripping from my tailpipe it was sweet water thanks though for the advice I found the problem after changing out the lower radiator hose.

the car has never over heated but I keep an eye for all the signs thanks
