1998 Lincoln towncar signature series tail lights shut off while driving at night

I don't know what to do. I was driving at 950pm and
I got pulled over due to no tail lights. With in the
time of the traffic stop and the time I was getting
ready to go I asked the officer to wait a sec allow
me to swap out fuses. I started the car turned lights
on walked around the car and the tail lights were on
