Frontend 97 lincoln town car

Ran of road ar about 10mph over
concrete irritation pipe hit tree rht side.tire
is now 2-3"back and was tilted out at top
Took to my front end guy got tire strsight
up and down is still in at front some can't
be adjusted  any more.we cant figure why
tire is back like it is.

Control arm is bent. At least the lower arm, replace it.

May have both arms bent a little measure the distance of both front tires/wheels to fender well straight toward the rear along the center of wheel holding the measuring tape horizontal see if the side got hit it closer to fender well.

Your steering rods/links may also be bent too and check where the strut/shock mounts at top it may or body may be bent too.

Thank you for your help everyone The measure on wheel is 2to3 inches further back then the not hit side.hope i can return the favors!


Front end guy if really a alignment tech would of known after cranking it so far out to can not adjust any more out, that its bent somewhere. 10mph, you can tell me was it 25-40mph?

Enginecreator another good idea. Thanks again no it wsd no more then 10 I was going slow and the field wad very muddy car was sunk to the frame and bottom of body. tow truck could not winch out had to pull out with his truck

That too being pulled like that from sticky mud can bend stuff too. I'd get all the front end parts and possibly steering parts from another car and just replace that side and possibly steering rods/tie rods. Your brake hub/spindle should be fine but if its all together just put your brakes on it.


99% time its just the lower arm, and maybe a steering rod at low speed so I would myself just change the lower arm and see if when turning it feels funny even after line up. If the steering rod is bent it will be like driving on wet glass, never can get it perfectly straight.


Now if the tire was turned out to the right when it hit then likely that 1% is in effect here and both arms are bent and tie-rod to steering rod too or both.
