Im looking at purchasing a 2006 Lexus RX400h AWD with 97 000 miles. I need a vehicle that is safe for my Family and won't leave my wife broken down on the side of the road. Is this a good deal?
I'm really breaking my budget but am hoping for reliability. We plan on big
Family road trips hence AWD, but the consumer reports seem conflicting.
Buying an eleven year old vehicle with 100,000 miles on it is going to be a gamble! A Lexus, like any high end vehicle, is going to be expensive to maintain and fix if something goes wrong. If this purchase will "break your budget" I'd suggest buying something else! If you really want the vehicle then do your homework. Run a vehicle history report such as Carfax. Look for multiple owners, accidents, service and repair records, and title issues. Have the vehicle inspected by a reputable shop who's familiar with these vehicles. Remember, most used vehicles are out there for a reason. People usually don't just get tired of them and trade them in for a newer model. There's almost always something that needs attention and the previous owner didn't want to spend the money for the repair. HTH. -Jim
