My check engine/VSC lights are on, placed on computer to test, & it says "Heated Oxygen Sensor".

Asked by C Terry May 24, 2012 at 02:02 PM about the 2004 Lexus SC 430 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

However, there are three (3) Oxygen sensors & the computer won't say which one?!?!? Any suggestions,
other than having to pay a shop to check all three? My concern is also whether this is the true
malfunction, reading other remarks of shops replacing several items ($$$) to finally find the true meaning
why the VSC warning light came on...

That is strange if its the oxygen sensor i think its the one before the catalytic converter is heated up vsc light comes on only when its relay is done for ( or the fuse ) or there is not enough brake fluid in the cylinder for the vsc to work with

Thanx! I'll check the fuse & brake fluid 1st & hope that's the solution. If not, I guess it's to the shop to determine whether it is the one before the catalytic converter...

the code will tell you which sensor it is. whether it is upstream and or downstream.

The VSC lights come on when the SC can't determine the correct Pitch/Yaw. It is a computer- fixable issue. The car must be on stable, level ground and the pitch and yaw must be set to zero. This helps the car know when it is going to flip and needs to activate other systems.

I just went through that with my 2002 Lexus 430SC - the issue is the Brake Stop Lamp needs to be replaced - that is why the VSC light is coming on
