You got a break by the guy if he passed your car with light on. But Lexus was OBDII compliant in 1995, a year before it was mandatory. recommendation is go to a parts-house, a big one like Auto-Zone or O'Reilleys and ask then to do an OBD scan. Whatever codes you get, write down and come back here before buying anything. Electrical parts are not returnable even if never installed. One of us will be happy to guide you to a solution.

You have to erase the old codez in the comp. If not check all conection s tempeture ratex sensors
