How do I check transmission fluid level?

My owners manual doesn't specify.  On other cars I've checked transmission fluid level with the engine running in either neutral or park.  I've checked mine both ways and the dip stick shows I need fluid but I'm afraid of overfilling.

Does it say any thing on the dip stick? Some times they will stamp the dip stick on how to check it
