Over Drive Off Over Drive is the passing gear.
OD is not the "passing gear" but the top gear in the transmission which is used in highway cruising. If you are going up and down steep grades you can lock the OD off to keep speed down on down slopes and to make the engine run at a higher RPM for more power when going up hill. Normally you want to leave the OD on.
What does it mean when dashboard light says OD off ?
