1998 Lexus ES 300, alternator won't fit because the bushing is sticking out too far.

Asked by Sep 01, 2019 at 12:03 AM about the 1998 Lexus ES 300 FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How do I make the bushing go in so I have room to mount the alternator?

After prying the old alternator off, the new one would not go on.  I tried to put
the old one back and it won't fit either.  Experimenting with ways to adjust the
bushing on the old alternator but no luck.  any suggestions?
