97 Lexus es300 cigarette lighter sparked and now car won’t start

Asked by Daboys0316 Mar 09, 2018 at 02:44 PM about the 1997 Lexus ES 300 FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Was trying to figure out how to turn off the trac off and
abs light when I noticed the car periodically dimming, for
seconds at time, in lights and power while idling.  It
happened every time I physically shifted inside the car.  I
then noticed a spark inside the cigarette lighter.  Upon
inspecting it I noticed a small piece of metal inside it.
(Don’t ask it’s my daughters car) I turned off the car and
removed.  Tried to start the car again and it was dead.
Lights turned on but it wouldn’t turn over, no sound.  It’s
been sitting there for a few days and now everything is
dead.  I will have time to mess with it tomorrow but was
hoping someone could shed light as to where a good
place to start trouble shooting would be.  Thanks!  Also
trying to turn off the trac and abs light.

Check fuses in fuse box inside car, at least you know what caused the problem and corrected it.
