My '95 ES 300 has a issue activating the play feature of the trunk mounted CD player. The radio display indicates an 'error", I'm on my third CD player so I'm convinced the player is not the problem.

Question type: General

I'm on my third CD player so I'm convinced that the player is not the problem. I removed the cover from one and plugged it in. It dutiful'y loads up a chosen disc but won't activate the "spin the disc" motor and reads as an error on the radio display. I'm about to give up. Is there something I'm missing?

maybe the newer discs are unreadable to this earlier style, just a thought, or the pin jacks connecting the pair are tarnished from age somewhat ,maybe consider an aftermarket dash unit installed

After all the contacts I made about this issue I discovered the solution from A long term Test of a 1996 Lexus by Edmunds. They just happened to mention that the CD's had to be placed in the multi-disc carriage upside down. No one I talked to or emailed mentioned this. All three changers work just fine.

Don't you have an Owners Manual? Not to be smart but it's the first thing to look for when ERR comes up (Disc's upside down!)?? Mine is a real stump took it out to change a disk now after putting it back (worked Perfect before) ALL I GET IS ERR!?????
