Do I need to use 75w-140 on my 2004 QuadraDrive Overland on both front and rear axles with limited slip additive?

The Jeep parts clerk sold me 5 quarts of 75w-140 but no limited slip additive.
He also sold me 2 quarts of NV 247 transfer case fluid. He told me based on my vin that it was correct for my car which has Vari-lok front and rear. Everything I have seen on you tube and forums says I need the additive. My Haynes repair manual says I need 14.5 pts for the 2004 model year.
What is the right answer???

If the parts clerk is well experienced and working at a Jeep dealership, I would probably trust him. I would do some more online research to try to find out exactly what your Jeep needs. Perhaps look at the owner's manual to see what it says. If you don't have an owners manual get one at www.helminc.com or online somewhere.
I would double check that gear oil as 75-140 is very heavy. Most gear oil in 4x4's is more like 75-90.
I finally found a local retired Jeep mechanic that had worked on my Jeep and has since retired. He explained "Quadradrive", "Varilok", and the "NV 247" transfer case to me in detail. The parts manager at the Jeep dealership was correct in his interpretation of my build sheet and indeed the front and rear Dana differentials did both require 75w-140 gear oil only "on my particular vehicle", but he explained that in his experience he found using the limited slip additive helped, if not corrected completely, any issues that customers had after servicing the Dana axles with only the gear oil without the additive. In short the best answer and solution to my service question was to use "Mopar" transfer case NV 247 lubricant, but to use Valvoline 75w-140 with limited slip additive. Mopar oil and additive is twice the cost of Valvoline at the Napa parts store locally. My car does require the heavier weight gear oil front and rear because of my "build". My thanks to all the folks that took a stab at this answer, but without knowing all the details of my car, only someone that had worked on it could have answered my question correctly.
I am a former Ford parts person and know that usually an experienced parts counterman just knows this stuff cause they deal with it every day. Glad you got it figured out and thanks for posting the results.
you must use limited slip additive in jeeps with dana 30 35 and 40 axles. ONLY use mopar! they are different than any other 4x4 axle. you will lock the LSD up if you use anything other than mopar and do not add the LS additive. 8oz for dana 35 and 40 and 4oz for dana 30.
What the parts clerk gave you may have had the additive in it already there are some brands like royal purple that have it added in .
