2004 Jeep Grand cherokee

I've been having problems with my Jeep idling, if I
let off the gas the engine will shake and and my
rpm drop to around 500 or lower then cut off. I just
changed the IAC valve and cleaned the butterfly
valve but the problem just came back any help will
be appreciated. Thank you

Does it do this all the time or only after it has been sitting awhile and then after letting it run its good? I had the same problem in mine and the transmission fluid was a little low. topped it off and everything worked great. I had just had transmission work done on it a few days before this problem and the shop forgot to fill what was lost through dropping the pan.
It usually does it every time but so long as I have the gas pedal down a little bit at all times its good
I would suggest still maybe checking the transmission fluid before spending a ton of money swapping out other things. But mine was like that too or I could throw it into neutral before it killed too. Otherwise throttle body or egr valve could be why.
This may help a little but since the problem came about I've had to put more pressure on the gas pedal to get up to speed

Your crankshaft position sensor could be starting to go.....it is a common problem on the second gen wj's.....
If the engine runs a lot better at higher RPMs it’s probably a vacuum leak somewhere. The EGR valve leaking or sticking open can also cause this. Check for any broken or disconnected vacuum lines first. It sounds like a pretty good size leak.
I have the same problem on my 2004 Grand Cherokee and was told to replace my fuel filter. The original fuel filter is 16 yrs. old.
