Changing from electric to manual drivers serat in my Jeep GranD Cherokee

Asked by Catiedee Apr 22, 2013 at 05:03 PM about the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The drivers seat frame broke on my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee.  The body shop is not recommending welding it.  Frame is bent.  Suggested replacing seat with frame from another jeep.  Current seat is electric.  Can I put a manual seat in my Jeep?

It all depends on what year Jeep. Your 2004 Jeep was part of the WJ model which was produced from 1999 - 2004. If you find a manual or electric seat in your color from one of those years, it should bolt in. Check with local scrap yards to save on shipping.

This is where we ended up going because Jeep won't admit that there is an issue with the seats. https://www.jeepseatbracket.com/ Pretty sad when the problem is so prevalent that an entire company is built on fixing the problem!

If anyone is still having this problem and checks this thread. A few places are now selling new frames for the seats because this became an issue for drivers of all sizes. Anyone have luck putting in a manual seat or even finding one that is manual?
