2003 jeep grand Cherokee

Asked by Christinac Jan 26, 2016 at 09:57 PM about the 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 03 Jeep grand Cherokee will start and run for
about 3 seconds and then shut off. The dash
gages are not working either. We were told there
was some kind of theft devise in it that stops
people from hot wiring the  car. Is there a way to
reset it?

It should reset if you use the key fob to lock the doors and wait about 5 seconds then using the fob again unlock the doors, if that doesn't do it the use the key in the drivers door to do the same, lock, wait, then unlock, if the system is operating correctly then this should deactivate it. If you still have the problem with the security system then you will have to take it to a dealer and have the system checked over, it is possible that a limit switch is not operating as it should. Thanks. I tried to lock the doors with the the key fob and it would only lock the back doors not the front. Also tried to use the key did not work. So I guess I'll have to take it to the dealer unless anybody else has a suggestion.

In this case I would recommend the dealer, unfortunately, the only other option is if you can find an independent shop that specializes in Chrysler Jeep products, and call them to find out if they have had ant experience with this type of trouble.
