Need to know if I can remove the front drive
shaft and still drive it

I think that would depend on what 4WD system you have. I would not remove the front drive shaft with AWD or full time 4WD. A standard 4WD with transfer case can be driven without the front drive shaft.

I did on my 1998 Cherokee XJ and ran it for nearly a year during which time I towed a Kenworth heavy haul semi with about 40k pounds about eight feet into the fuel pumps and yep I had pictures until I had to reset my cellphone. Was cousins rig he'd vouch for it. The big lifted diesel pickup truck croud watched in awe. Yes I put it in 4 low to lock the rear axle .. It's a 4.0 v/ automatic with a lift and 33/10.50 r15's so yes unquestionably
