Do I have to program a new computer to the Vin number on the vehicle
I need a new computer for my jeep can I
buy an old one with the same make and
model and use it or do I have to program it
to the Vin number
If you find a computer from a vehicle that is the same as yours, engine etc, and the numbers match on the sticker on the computer, then you could use it. Otherwise a computer from the same vehicle but different numbers on the computer would have to be flashed at a Dealership.
VIN must be programed ... Basic Info, If you change the keys, instrument cluster, PCM / Computer or immobilizer module, or skim antenna you will have to reprogram everything. The gauge cluster, PCM, and skim module must ALL AGREE and have all the same VIN programmed into them. The DBRIII is the scanner to use.
