I did it to my 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It runs fine but it’s also a straight 6. It’s been like that for about 6 months now. Zero issues. Besides the fact I need my differential fixed.

Can I ask did the differential still make noise and humming with the front drive shaft out? I have a 98 5.2 liter grand cherokee and my front differential is acting up already replaced two cv joints to find out its my differential so much metal shavings in the oil of the diff will it help me for a few weeks to take off the driveshaft?

Thanks Ed I think I'm going to remove the front driveshaft and the front cv axle joints with the gears inside the pumpkin basically eliminating eliminating front wheel drive system for now until I can get a whole front axle which was a thought of mine and thats what I'm gonna do
