Question type: Maintenance & Repair

good morning,
Here's the thing. Changed the water pump, applied a minnimal bead
of gasket seal. Changed the thermostat, and the "coolling-sensor."
Upper & Lower hoses, plus a new idler pulley. Replaced the
Serpentine belt.
Oh, the vehicle; 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4.7L V8.
All these repairs performed sixty days ago. So, there is a "squeal
comming from the water-pump area, niether, upper or lower hose are
firm to the touch. Done at 215-220 degrees. Maybe indicating a faulty
thermostat and this part was replaced as part of the jeeps cooling and
heating related parts.
Could this squeaking or high pitched squealling be the result of faulty
parts or installation. Applying WD40 to the serpentine belt reduces the
squeal but then returns with a vengence. Installing the water-pump
access area was marginal. Any help or suggetions?

The serpentine belt tensioner could need replacing if it's the original. It sounds like it is not holding the belt tight. Right after the engine is started, the alternator is trying to recharge the battery and the belt slips due to the increased load.

tenspeed, right again. the tensioner was not addressed. These are fussy and frequently there is a replacement bearing because they will not behave themselves and keep correct tension~
