Has anyone experienced arcing plug wires that look like light rope!!?? Opened my hood the other night, service light under hood is out, several of my plug wires looked as if you could see current running thru them! I kid not!! When I moved them around they would begin "flowing" like light rope... Recently I had a mishap with a large deer! It has been running rough since! The plug wires are only 3 months old! Are they just really cheap wires or do I have some weird elec problem? Incidently the batt keeps going dead when it sits for a week. Check engine light is on of course!!! HELP......
Yes I call that spark jump. It's manly caused by old, bad or cheap wires. On foggy damp nights they really put on a light show. Replace your wires with a better quality wire.
Dandyoun is right, cheap wires, replace them with a good quality set. That kind of stray voltage can cause the check engine light to come on and set unviable codes. The battery drain is something altogether different, have you performed a battery draw test yet? There could be something still on when the ignition is off, light a glove box light or stuck brake lights etc. it could also be a bad diode in the alternator, that won't show up on a normal output test.
Thanks tennishoes I'll gét higher quality wires! I did have batt draw tested , checked out but it was at the same shop that put on the wires , go figure!!.....
