Electrical Malfunction?

Asked by LisaLovelace Aug 02, 2016 at 05:05 AM about the 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee SE 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I believe I have an electrical problem.  The instrument panel and power
windows work fine.  The door locks do not work at all even when using the
key in the drivers door to lock them, manual locking of each door is
required.
While the key is in the accessory or on positions, or while driving the
interior lights come on and dim as if the doors had been opened and
closed.  The radio, climate control, and center console flash on and off.
There is a battery drain because it needs to be started every 2 to 3 days to
keep the battery alive.
Alternator checks out fine, fuses are good, battery is new.
Car drives fine but the problem needs to be fixed soon.

Start be having the door lock circuit tested by someone that knows electrical systems and has a multimeter, have it done.

Thanks for all your help! I have discovered that there's probably a leak in the headlight that allows water to contact the bulb (burned out) and collect in the bottom. The towing "pigtail" is still attached. Could that be an issue as well? I haven't had access to my jeep because my mom is borrowing it for daytime use at the moment. I will check all that out today though and update you.
