Fluid leaking on the inside of my front drivers side tire

Asked by LBTrask Jun 21, 2015 at 06:10 PM about the 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just got home from an 8hr drive and
noticed a dark fluid dripping on the
inside of my front driver's side tire.
Touched it and it feels oily - looks
just like brake fluid.
Did a quick assessment; checked all
the fluids - everything is normal by all
appearances. Pumped the brakes,
steered the tires from side to side
and didn't notice anything while
doing so.
The power steering fluid is a normal
level, so is the brake fluid.
Haven't taken the tire off to inspect
further yet.
Was hoping maybe someone had an
idea of what it could be so that I
know what to look for when I do
buckle down and take 'er apart!

(I would post a flippin' picture if this
site would let me! Would probably
make diagnosis much easier)

Maybe your power steering pump might have burped a little fluid out.
