my air conditioning system isn't working right. the compressor is working and the system is charged but it don't put out much cold air, it's only cool air. the compressor clicks on but don't stay on very long. I was told that the orifice tube could be pluged

that tube won't the problem unless the blockage is directly next to the condenser. A clogged tube usually traps water in the line or might cause water leaks inside the car. If compressor is clicking, it could be an over or undercharge. Measure PSI in compliance with what your car requires. If you did not properly charge it, it could be more air in the line that FREON which explains bad cooling. I'd flush the freon line professionally and refill with a new bottle. Another tip is to reinfornce the FREON line with heat resistant insulation. Take some zip tires and pipe wrapping and wrap around your cold lines. Hot air from the engine will be reflected off the lines helping keep them cool. I've done this to the last 10 cars I've owned and I can tell you each time (especially mid summer) the cooler is at least 5 degrees cooler than without the insulation. Considering the hot asphalt below and heat from your engine.

Whats the low side/ suction PSI reading? Whats the high side / pressure PSI reading? without this info you can't diagnose the AC system
