Replacing gasket cover & spark plugs twice

Asked by 1AnonaMiss Oct 22, 2019 at 07:53 PM about the 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.7L GLS AWD

Question type: General

Just got head gasket cover and spark plugs replaced for the second time in
two years.  I understand, basically, why this needs to be done, but  when I
asked the mechanic why I had to have it done AGAIN he said my engine
was "running hot" but said I didn't need to do anything about it.
I'm not vehicle/car literate so can someone please tell me in simple English
why I'd have to have this done twice in two years?  Am I being "had?"

If you use Iridium spark plugs they only have to be changed every 100,000 miles. Other types more often.
