2001 Audi A4 Intermittent start

First let's start with I am a
capable mechanic with over 20
years experience under a
hood. But this Audi has got me
talking to myself. I have a 2001
Audi A4 2.8L quattro, with a
manual transmission. The car
starts and runs like a champ,
but if I make more than 2
stops it will not start unless I
let it sit. I have checked relays
fuel pump everything I can
think of. My VAGCOM doesn't
show a fault anywhere. What
can this be. Yes I bought
VAGCOM just for this car.
Please help!

Id recommend checking your cam and crank sensor signals with an oscilloscope and verify the signals are staying clean after they heat up. Typically a code would be thrown with a bad cam or crank sensor, but if it is an intermittent problem or just on the verge of keeping computer happy, it may never show the code. Also try to hook up a higher end scanner and data log all the sensors when the car actually dies and see if you dont see any funny business.

Mr mechanic I am having fuel pump issues it jus decided to die 4 days ago relay is functioning fuse is not blowing (it was blowing a month ago hence the relay) I through a used fuel pump from the scrap yard in and still no humming please help I missed 2 days a work alredy
