Automatic 2001 audi a4 1.8t won't change gears

Asked by Jorge Dec 01, 2016 at 01:18 PM about the 2001 Audi A4 1.8T quattro AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I'm having problems with my audi a4 quattro. I
recently hit the tranmission pan against rock when
i was driving and it made a dent and leaked
tranmission oil. But I bought a new pan and did the
tranmission fuild change by myself but once I
started it there wasn't a problem until I drove it. It
won't shift gears it stays in 1st gear and will go all
the way to 6k rpms but won't shift even with the
manual shifter. It's an automatic and I was
wondering if anyone know what could be wrong?
Could it be the speed sensor or did I put to much
fuild ? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you drove the car with low fluid level you may have damaged the transmission.

most audis from my knowledge need to have the transmision in motion to properly fill it while pumping the fluid in.
