Fuel gauge not working properly
Had fuel pump replaced in my 2002 audi Quattro last week since then petrol
gauge keeps changing as to how much fuel I have and I have put £50 petrol
in to do a 60 mile journey but my Guage goes from empty to full and I
between and then it tells me I need petrol
Was the pump new or used? I can't remember for sure, but the sending unit may be attached to the pump, so it's possible your "new" pump has a bad sending unit. Here in the states we have a fuel additive called Chevron Techron that some people have said will clean the sending unit so it will register accurately.
your fuel reader in the tank is the likely culprit. Had the same issue with my 1998 audi. after a few years the wire on it in the tank rots off. you can do one of 2 things repair it or get a new one. I recomend a new one but fixing it can get you by a while longer. Just take it out and resolder the wire back on and it should work properly again. replacing it with a new one will make it work lke new tho.
