I have a 2002 allroad--modified--and a 1994 urS4. The former has 238000 miles and the latter 116000 miles. Both great cars...but: expensive to maintain and repair. Audi quits stocking parts after 15 years leaving one to the mercy of second hand and aftermarket sources--not so much an engine problem as a body parts problem. Still, a great car. The A4/S4 engine can be worked on without having to take the body off the engine (13 to 20 hours labor). Find out the service records, see when where the timing belt/et al changes occurred and do your due diligence--hit the support groups online. Check Edmunds for TSB,s. Good luck.
