No start and backfire through intake

I've got a 2004 A4 3.0L. I just up and quit running.  I
stopped to put gas in it and it wouldn't start after
that and still won't.  I've replaced the ignition relay
to with no result.  Someone anyone help please.

When I try to start it it will crank for about 5 seconds until I get a nice cough throight the intake of atomized fuel. Is it fuel related, plugs, or timing?

    No crank no start everything works, tested, ignition feeding 12v to relay, relay clicks, but signal to starter wire not getting the ignition 12v ??? Starter turns when jumped !
