why must you depress brake pedal on a 1990 thunderbird for it to start

cant find what connections are made to allow the car to start by pressing the
brake switch i know it must be or will not start

I would assume the tranny is auto, it is probably to prevent the motor firing and driving off uncontrollably down the highway, I have known this to happen when people are doing maintenance and they start up outside the automobile and its either in gear or in drive and the cars picks up and drives off uncontrollably down the road
