I have a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71. The question I have
is does the front axel still rotate even if the truck is in 2W
But why does the owners manual say that when you put it in four wheel the front axel is the engaged. If it spins all the time wouldn't it be engaged at all times then?
No, the front drive shaft from the transfer case is what drives the front axles and wheels when locked into 4-wheel drive. When your locked out of 4-wheel drive, the front drive shaft does not turn, rotate. so the front wheels are not locked in. On a GM, the front axles spin all the time with the wheel rotation.
