2000 GMC Sierra low oil pressure

Asked by nosup4u Dec 15, 2016 at 10:07 AM about the 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 4WD Extended Cab LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok here it goes I have a 2000 GMC Sierra that I was hauling a large trailer
with and the oil pressure dropped and ticking noise started.  Changed the oil
and put in a new pressure switch.  Was told I needed a new oil pump and it
was worth fixing with 222k miles on it.  ( I have a 2002 Suburban with 325 on
it so I beg to differ on that opinion) The Mechanic is telling me to sell the
truck and move on but I just rebuilt the transmission so that is not really an
option.  My question is how much can i expect to pay for installation of the oil
pump and is it really worth it to fix the pump or put in a new motor
