My 2000 GMC 1500 doesn't want to go in morning

Asked by PiperMike Jun 29, 2016 at 09:38 AM about the 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 LT Extended Cab LB

Question type: General

When I go to leave in the morning I start the truck and moments later I put the
truck into drive, but takes about 30 seconds before it will move. The RPM's
go but that's it. Then after about 30 seconds it slowly will start to move and
then drives just fine. This only happens during the morning and not every
morning, only about 3 or 4 mornings the last 2 weeks. Any thoughts? Tranny
fluid good.

It sounds like it's taking a while for the transmission to build fluid pressure. This could be the result of a dirty transmission filter or an internal issue. Do not try to engage the transmission until it's had enough time to build pressure as the slippage you are experiencing will ultimately wear out the clutches and render your transmission in need of a rebuild or replacement.
