Rough Idle at lights and stop signs

Asked by debihop59 Feb 06, 2017 at 07:59 PM about the 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE 4WD Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced my 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 (V8) TPS sensor because of rough idle, did not solve the problem, so I replaced  the Idle Air Control Valve, and that didn't fix it either.  I have tried resetting the ECM and it runs fine for a few minutes, but then it's back to running rough again at low idle.  I also thoroughly cleaned the throttle body.  Any tips or suggestions on how to get it to keep and accept the reset?

Clean or replace the Mass Air Flow Sensor. There is a special cleaner to use for cleaning this.

Just fixed my 17, all I did was spray throttle body cleaner into the throttle body after cleaning very well and the low idle came right back up after a few high revs to w.o.t. ( wide open throttle) and is running like new again so I will do this every LOF , and jus cleaning the throttle body is not enough, you need to spray it to clean the sensors and upper plenum.
