Automatic, wont shift down

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 95 GMC Sierra will only start when I use
starting fluid.  Then the engine runs high, about
1200 rpm. Usually it's  about 900. It's automatic
and when I put it in gear it wants to take off. Then
when I am driving It won't shift,  so my RPM's are
way up but I'm only doing about 30. And
sometimes my breaks get  squishy.  It's done this
before a short time ago but only once and it gave a
reading that the TCU was bad.  I replaced it and it
w worked fine. This is just two months later and it's
not giving an engine code.

Sorry, that's what I changed just a couple months ago, the TPS, not the TCU. I am going to change the TPS wiring harness first. If that doesn't fix it then the TPS. Hopefully that will do it.

Changed out the TPS and that fixed the problem. Thanks AutoTechJ
