1991 GMC Sierra K1500 Backup lights not working

I have no backup lights.  I have parking and break lights but no backup.  I
replaced the lights and circuit boards but they still don't work.  Where do I start
to find out why they aren't working?

Thanks, Ed. I was able to trace the problem back to the switch on the steering column. The clip was broken so it wouldn't complete the circuit when changing gears. Thanks again.
