Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I went to fill my tank, after removing the gas cap I inserted the hose and the gasoline
would not go into the tank .. it just overflowed, I tried gas cans with funnels, no luck. Is
there something I can do to avoid costly repairs !

Get under the car and check the filler tube that goes to the tank. Make sure it's not pinched. If it looks good, check the vent tube as well. You may have to remove it and see if it's plugged with debris. I would run a piece of coat hangar down the filler neck as well. Just to see if something is lodged in there. Did you notice if your check engine light is on? You may have a problem with your EVAP solenoid.

To sounds like your fuel tank vent is clogged or pinched. I believe its just a small hose coming off the top of the fuel tank that runs between the underside of the car and the tank. I have heard of these getting pinched which causes the tank to not take on fuel.
