Transmission disengaging after second gear

Asked by GuruD4WR9 Aug 02, 2017 at 05:42 PM about the 2003 GMC Savana Cargo G2500 AWD Cargo Van

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought this car with a bad transmission
and transfer case. I replaced  the
transmission with a  remanufactured one
And replaced a few parts on the transfer
case. It worked  fine for a few days  but
now when I  put it in drive it disengages
after second gear  when I accelerate at a
normal pace but  when I accelerate hard
goes up third and disengages after  I tried
putting it on  The other gears (P,R,N 1,2,3)
they all work.  I thought maybe one of my
electrical connections were lose  I put
contact cleaning on them and put them
back still no change

could be a shift solenoid or bad transmission, check fluid level first and see if there is any check engine codes
